When it comes to Wi-Fi, we do not believe in one-size-fits-all. That would be like if every house had the same hot water system. Our solutions are 'custom fitted' to your home and tuned for the best performance.
One-size-fits-all Wi-Fi systems can cause hours of frustration. You might have seen one offering a return guarantee if it does not work. Systems available from your retailer or service provider work great in the right circumstances.
If you have tried more than one Wi-Fi system and still have Wi-Fi dead spots, speed issues and/or issues with certain devices - it could be time to consider a custom solution.
After a discussion about your requirements, we start by assessing your existing Wi-Fi and cabling setup. We will then propose the most economical solution. Solutions range from simple configuration changes all the way to Wi-Fi meshing systems and access points
Why would I use a company to solve my Wi-Fi issues?
1. We assess the factors that affect your internet speed. This includes sources of interference, such as from redundant Wi-Fi extenders and other wireless devices.
2. Our ACMA registered technicians can update your home cabling. If required, we can re-locate your NBN point to a better location. We can also install Wi-Fi mesh nodes in the exact locations that work best.
3. Fully tested for quality assurance. We will not leave a solution installed that doesn't work.
The right solution works better and can cost you less.
These are the factors which affect your internet / Wi-Fi speeds:
1. Your NBN plan speed and current Wi-Fi internet / cabling setup
2. How many devices are online at the same time as well as interference from other Wi-Fi networks
3. NBN technology type and the location in the house.
You might find your home network performance is increased by relocating the NBN point to a middle area of your house. We will only recommend this option if we think it is better value and this is part of what we mean by a custom Wi-Fi solution.
Too many companies approach home WiFi with a one-size-fits-all solution. We had one customer who was told to connect a mesh point on the stairs - creating a potential trip hazard.
Three ways to solve your Wi-Fi problems:
1. Requires cabling: A Wi-Fi access point connected with a CAT6 Ethernet cable to your internet provider modem. We can install an access point almost anywhere inside and even outdoors. This is just like having another 'Wi-Fi modem'. Our technicians can assess if any existing cabling can be repurposed
2. Does not require cabling: A Wi-Fi mesh system. A main 'node' is connected to your internet provide modem and this connects to one or more 'satellites' which repeats the signal. The connection between node and satellite is wireless. This is a solution you can implement yourself without using our service as you just require a power point at each location.
3. Requires cabling: It might be better value to re-locate the NBN point and/or install CAT6 (Ethernet) cabling. A more central location can make new and existing Wi-Fi systems work much better. Installing Ethernet cabling can run as the 'backbone' for your existing system. You may even have existing cabling in place
Most of the advertising with mesh systems shows the main node in a central location with two or more 'satellites' on either side.
The benefits of a TechTV WiFi system:
A single network name (SSID) and password.
Set up using your existing or old network name - so your devices connect to the new system automatically.
Can be more cost effective because we tailor our solution to your requirements
Easy warranty and support if anything goes wrong.
If a cable run is impossible or too expensive then you might have heard of the Mesh WiFi kits on the market. These are a fantastic solution for homes where installing new cables is too expensive or impossible. The first mesh point connects to your modem or NBN and the second one makes a wireless connection to the first one in order to boost the WiFi signal.
A mesh WiFi kit can be installed by yourself but sometimes extra work is required to ensure that your whole network still functions properly and is secure. To improve performance in some homes, we can re-locate the NBN point to a central location and use mesh boosters on each floor or side of the home. This improves performance because then the mesh WiFi units connect directly to the main unit.
We unleash the true power of your internet connection by connecting a cable from the WiFi access point to your modem or NBN point. The cable supplies power and data to the access point so we can neatly install these almost anywhere with no wires visible.
We are now installing 802.11ax WiFi 6 access points which can be set up to provide seamless coverage wherever they are installed.
