If you've complained to your provider about poor speeds and/or dropouts with no resolution, could the problem be lurking in your roof space?
Some customers get told there is nothing they can do. Others get told there is a so-called 'bridge tap' or a 'split line'. Most customers we meet simply want their internet to work!
A typical house has the NBN line running all over the place before it reaches the modem. We were thinking about having some geek talk here, but the reality is we regularly find the line split and running in multiple directions.
A bridge tap is a little like having leaky taps, except you only want the single tap where your modem is. This is why your service can seem to work fine for years before a bridge tap causes issues.
It's worth noting that some people can now apply for an upgrade to Fibre-To-The-Premises (FTTP). So, before contacting us, it's important to first apply to your service provider in case of any issues and to see if you can get a free upgrade to NBN fibre.
If you call us out for a Fibre-To-The-Node (FTTN) or Fibre-To-The-Curb (FTTC) NBN repair, we prefer that you have already contacted your internet provider to report a fault and wait for their answer. Sometimes you could have a perfectly fine NBN service but an issue with your in-home distribution.
We are local ACMA registered cablers servicing Perth who fix faults with NBN FTTN and FTTC internet connections.
We can replace your internal wiring to improve your speeds and stability on FTTN and FTTC. We can also add or re-locate your nbn point.
When we arrive, we test your cabling to determine whether a simple repair or complete re-wire is required. Once we start - what we find inside your roof might scare you!
Testimonials from our customers are on Google if you look up TechTV cabling.

Often we find cabling that has been repaired or replaced but the client still has drop outs and/or speed issues. A lot of clients have also been told there is nothing they can do to improve their service.
We provide a price range for repairs as then you know we will fix the problem.
Snippets from two of our Google Reviews:
" They are very good . Fixed our NBN issue where all the others could not . "
" I have been having internet trouble for years, which no internet company could seem to fix. TechTV and their technicians fixed this issue in under and hour and I have had no trouble since. "
All of our jobs are completed by our own staff who are fully trained in-house and all hold Certificate IV in Telecommunications. We do not use low-paid contractors
If a NBN fault exists outside of your property we will provide evidence and help you sort this out with your provider.
“In-home wiring – the copper cabling that runs to and between telephone sockets in the vast majority of homes – can have a very real impact on the quality of service that end users experience … after an internal study we conducted earlier this year on nearly 800 premises found that, of those studied, speed performance issues identified in one in two premises on Fibre-to-the-Node networks were caused by in-home wiring. In many of these cases poor wiring caused download speeds to degrade by more than 50 per cent.
With good in-home wiring, there should be little to no impact on your nbn VDSL service. But in cases where wiring is old, poorly put together or where unused telephone outlets are still wired to the main system, this can lead to speed degradation and cause drop-outs.Thankfully, there can be a relatively simple fix for homes suffering from speed degradation caused by poor wiring. The range of solutions includes moving your modem to the first socket, closing off unused phone outlets, installing a central splitter, or re-cabling poor wiring. In fact, our study found that the above simple fixes resulted in an average speed increase of 55 per cent (from 30Mbps to 46Mbps download speeds).”

Even though this quote is a few years old, our very own test results and experience backup what NBN has said.
A bridge tap is another way of saying 'star wiring' and is when the line coming from the street is split into more than one cable or outlet. Homes with an alarm system or multiple telephone/data points could have a bridge tap.
Digital subscriber lines (DSL) like NBN FTTN & FTTC can be affected by a bridged tap, depending on where the tap is bridged. DSL signals reflect from the redundant lines, sending the signal back through the cable pair, much like a tennis ball against a brick wall.
Any extra joins in your line can be the source of your drop out or speed issues on the nbn but a bridge tap basically acts like a big antenna for interference and we find this is the reason why a service can work fine before any problems begin.
We regularly find hidden cable damage inside wall cavities and roof spaces so replacement of your line is the best way to fix a bridge tap on the NBN. Our technicians will advise if a simple wiring remediation or complete replacement is required.
Please watch out for any competitors charging a fixed cost for this service, we have attended hundreds of jobs which have been 'fixed' by another company but we have been called in to fix it again. Get in touch for a fast online estimate.
If you are an NBN FTTN/FTTC customer then your cause of drop outs could be your internal wiring. That is, the cables inside your roof space, walls or under your house could have a fault.
The fault ranges from simply old cable to the old wiring practices that worked fine for telephones. We can sometimes repair old cabling but find it is economically better to install a new cable for most clients.
A benefit of installing a new cable is you can change the nbn point location.
Contact us and we can start off with a test of your internal wiring to verify it is causing you problems!
