What Is an nbn NTD?

Your Network Termination Device (NTD) is the wall mounted box that connects your property to the NBN FTTP network (Fibre-To-The-Premises). It’s essential for delivering internet to your home or office.

As mentioned above, a standard installation means that the nbn equipment might not end up in your optimal location.

We can assist you with different solutions available to suit your needs - including installing Ethernet cabling between the nbn network termination device and your Wi-Fi router.

This means you might be happy to allow the nbn to install their equipment inside your garage or other area, but engage TechTV to install data cabling to locate your WiFi router inside.

The NBN NTD can also be relocated to another area within your home.

How much does it cost?

NBN NTD relocations, cabling solutions and nbn cable pathway installations cost between $450 and $1500+.

Multi storey homes as well as homes with difficult roofs are on the higher end of the price scale. We use two technicians for safety reasons on these jobs.

We recommend you first work with your nbn installer to choose an acceptable location for the nbn equipment to be installed free of charge.

After installation of the nbn equipment, you can then engage us to install CAT5e/CAT6 Ethernet cabling to your Wi-Fi router.

Can't agree on a suitable location for your nbn network termination device? TechTV can install a compliant 'nbn cable pathway' using P20 conduit and a draw string.

If you are unsure how to proceed then simply tell us what stage you are at or what issues you are having and we will do the rest.

Depending on technician availability, we can work after hours and on the weekend.

How Our Process Works

Site Assessment – We evaluate your existing NTD location and your preferred new spot. We check suitable power supply, cabling routes, and wall access.

Installation & Testing – Our ACMA-registered cablers install the fibre optic cabling, reconnect your service, and check any required configuration on your router so everything works properly.

We thoroughly test all of our installations, including by showing you how to run an internet speed test.

Contact us office@techtv.au to discuss your options as there are many different solutions available - especially if you have existing cabling in place.
